Over the years, Don has experimented with countless different blank books and has always been disappointed. Until now. That's because we found a bookbinder named Ann who can make reasonably priced books with all the features Don craves:

Calamityware is a small, eight-person, one-dog company headquartered in Pittsburgh. We love bringing the darkly whimsical view of our founder and chief monster-maker, Don Moyer, to life. Our products are high quality, meticulously manufactured items that make wonderful gifts for you and other weird-adjacent people in your life. Our goal is to make you smile.
Made in China. Why? I'd pay more and purchase things if they were made in the countries of their creators. My 2020 resolution was to purchase only things made locally unless it can't be easily sourced another way. As much as I love your art and the extreme creative of all your items I can't bring myself to buy any of it.
I love these in concept. Size, paper, pocket, etc. But like another reviewer I'm having trouble with my conscience. China has held (tortured) two Canadians for more than 2 years and I'm trying not to support the country's economy. But they would make perfect gifts for all my artist friends, so I may weaken! And they look to be good quality, relatively better than your scarves - also made in China - which I love, but even after being dragged wet over rocks they are still stiff and rough.
I love these notebooks! They're easy to store in a purse or bag but the page size still allows for jotting down lots of information. I'm not a clever enough artist to sketch the various calamities that befall me during my days but I can easily write about them in these neat books!
I got these for my 9-year old grandson who just can't stop drawing. He loves them and he thinks they are classy. A quality item.
Uh, doesn't particularly lay flat.
I purchased these for my niece, a freshman in college, they are perfect to throw in her backpack and pull out when inspiration strikes. I love the soft but resilient leather covers and the paper quality is is very nice. A perfect Christmas gift. Always fun doing business with you
I bought these for my Mom and sister. They are the artists in my family. I think they will love them. They are a perfect size to fit in your purse to carry with you for that impromptu sketch.
Double your pleasure, double your fun. Two of Don’s sketchbooks are better than one.
Small size is great for carrying in a backpack (no purse). 7 months to retirement , my current hobby is beard growing. My bosses hate it ( two jobs ). What are they gonna do, fire me?
who loves to draw and write. Indeed it was a very merry Calamity Yulemas at our house and that of my son and family as everyone received at least one gift from your wonderful selections. These sketchbooks are well made and will offer her a bit of time before they are filled with her magical head and heart. Thanks Calamityware!
