These porcelain pieces are fired at the Kristoff workshop in Valbrich, Poland, one of the oldest and grandest porcelain workshops in the world. Kristoff has been making porcelain since 1831 and its work can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come. Photo by Porcelana Krzysztof Sp. z o.o.
Calamityware is a small, eight-person, one-dog company headquartered in Pittsburgh. We love bringing the darkly whimsical view of our founder and chief monster-maker, Don Moyer, to life. Our products are high quality, meticulously manufactured items that make wonderful gifts for you and other weird-adjacent people in your life. Our goal is to make you smile.
I have wicked bad arthritis in... well, everywhere. Because of this I have mainly had really boring unbreakable dishes as I have a terrible habit of dropping things when I try to carry them. I wanted that snail plate so badly that I made a deal with my home aid... I do not pick up the plates, I just enjoy eating off them when she brings me my food. But, because nothing is ever perfect and I've definitely needed to pick up the plates I have found that they don't just shatter upon hitting the floor, to my immense relief. I won't say that I feel safe carrying these dishes around, but I feel so much better knowing that it would take some effort to break them.
I love the artwork--it was an immediate sell. The only thing that would give it all stars would be a darker cobalt blue on the transfer. I have been collecting Blue Willow and other blue and white china for 35 yrs. If the calamityware was a dark blue, it would let me easily mix and match with my other pieces. If I learn that you darken the pattern in future runs, I would gladly buy more.
My husband and I were married young and never got to do the old tradition of picking out a China dinnerware set. This year is our 30th wedding anniversary and were are so happy to have Calamityware as our choice! Love the quality and colors, brings a smile to our dining adventures!
Anxiety eating making my head look small and body expanding. Small plates as amusing as the larger dinner size. The Stink Eye especially helpful reducing portion size.
I already had the dinner plates (8 and counting) and adore them...so was ready to add some small plates. I only wish that there were more designs in this size as well!
I'd been ogling these for months before splurging--I didn't need these, I wanted them. When I was a kid I had a blue willow tea set that I adored, so finding these incredible patterns was a delight. I have waaaay too much dish ware, and these were a bit pricey for my budget, but a cash birthday gift tipped the scales for me. Am now waiting for the 20 ounce mug pair to become available. Thank you Calamityware team for the joy.
I have been wanting to buy EVERTHING I have seen, but restrained myself (for the time being) until I saw these small plates. They are a wonderful way to start collection. I think my food tastes better....that's my story to keep investing. Dishwasher safe is icing on the cake!
Joy abounds, we now have our four small plate and four dinner plates, even the mice is a cabinet are tickled pink.
These plates are great. Very good quality but also lightweight and easy to store. Perfect for a sandwich or snack time. I’m excited to replace the rest of my dishes with Calamityware!
I broke one of the Ant small plates, and was very sad to have done so, but glad of the excuse to get these plates as well.
The smalls are the perfect size, and amusing, to boot!
Love my Calamityware.
