Calamityware porcelain place settings for 4 dinner guests in a discounted bundle. Each dinner plate features a different calamity from Don Moyer's sketchbook—please specify which Series of designs you want before adding to cart. The mugs are identical but depict a plethora of calamities.

There are two options for the shallow bowls and small plates: Calamities (this bundle) or Insects (click here to switch to the insect bundle).

This 16-piece bundle contains:

  • 4 different Dinner Plates: choose Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 (specify design before adding to cart)
  • 4 identical classic 12-ounce Things-Could-Be-Worse Mugs
  • 4 Now What? Shallow Bowls (4 unique designs)
  • 4 Now What? Small Plates (4 unique designs)

Where it's made

These porcelain pieces are fired at the Kristoff workshop in Valbrich, Poland, one of the oldest and grandest porcelain workshops in the world. Kristoff has been making porcelain since 1831 and its work can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come. Photo by Porcelana Krzysztof Sp. z o.o.

Love these dishes!

I looked at these dishes for over six months but kept thinking they were just too expensive for a “fun set of dishes“. Then one night I had one too many glasses of wine, reasoned that they’re still cheaper than a fine pair of Italian shoes (which I have never purchased but you know, inebriated logic) and ordered them! It was the best wine-soaked purchase ever! We all love these dishes and use them for nearly every sit down dinner. I have a lot of great coffee mugs but since the day these arrived, I have only drank coffee from the It Could Be Worse mugs. My favorite thing is serving someone new on these plates and seeing their expression when they realize there is a many tentacled sea monster under their food. Don’t wait until you’ve had too much to drink to buy these awesome plates, just get them and save yourself the hangover!

The perfect divorce dishes

He took the wedding china, so I'm calling these my divorce dishes! They mix beautifully with other sets and my boys love them. After all, it's all their favorite things, bigfoot, frogs, ninjas, spaceships, dinosaurs, zombies... I mean everything. I will be reminded every morning by my coffee mug that things could be worse (as in I could still be married).

Must get more

I bought a setting for four and will have to buy at least two more dinner plates. I used to often use paper towels instead of messing up a dish for a sandwich or snack. But now I'm using a plate or bowl because it's my silly secret and brightens my day. More dishes to wash but, oh well!

Love!

I've been coveting these for awhile and finally splurged and ordered the set. They're beautiful, they're fun, they're ridiculous, and I adore them. They've been through the dishwasher a few times and been fine, I haven't managed to break anything yet, we use them everyday and they make me happy every time. Absolutely recommend.

I use them every day...

These dishes are everything. (I also got the tea set.) I love the sense of humor. And everybody I've gloated about them to finds them just as irresistible. While I'm excited to have a full set of dishes for a dinner party once it's safe to have people into our home again, I also enjoy using these plates for almost every meal. I've already run them in the dishwasher several times and they look great. (I'll probably be buying another set of the dinner plates because I love all the different artwork.) If you're on the fence about them...just take the leap! You won't regret it.

Just perfect!

After eyeing them for months, I finally bought the set of 2 large mugs, and a dinnerware service for 4, series1. Everything arrived speedily, and carefully packed. They are gorgeous! whimsical! silly! And I am ridiculously delighted every time I use them. I did not need more dishes, but I truly needed these!

Lovely

I am so glad I finally splurged and purchased these beautiful dishes. I have retired all of my other dinnerware and these are my every day dishes. Every time I pick up a piece I am reminded of why they are so special. Lovely quality and are everything I was hoping they would be. If you are on the fence, don't be, worth every penny! I have expanded off the original set and purchased enough to serve 8.
