Where it's made

These porcelain pieces are fired at the Kristoff workshop in Valbrich, Poland, one of the oldest and grandest porcelain workshops in the world. Kristoff has been making porcelain since 1831 and its work can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come. Photo by Porcelana Krzysztof Sp. z o.o.

Second set for me

My first set of 4 place-settings were insect-less by choice - I wanted to make sure I liked the gorillas, poodles, sea serpents, and calamities before introducing bugs into the mix. When I decided I needed another 4 place-settings, I wanted to shake things up with the ants and flies combo. I'm still surprised by them when the plate is empty so that makes me laugh. I'm just a little concerned that guests won't share my odd sense of humor and fling a plate across the room when their fly or ant presents itself. Guess I should warn them ahead of time. Or not.

Waiter - there’s a 🪰 in my soup

So much goodness. Flies in the bowls and ants on the side plates. And the insects are black and not blue. I dare you not to love these. Also the usual impeccable quality, design and craftsmanship.

A Great Gift to Lift Spirits

I sent a 4-setting set to a friend who has been most kind in including me in her dinner pod. She was delighted with the design and the insects and has now included them in her dinner settings. When we think that things can't get any worse, we only have to look down at our plates and feel blessed.

Really happy with quality and durability.

Love the artwork! The pieces arrived very well packed. Even though there was some external box damage, the dishes were all in perfect shape. I was worried they'd be super fragile and lose their artwork in a hurry, but they seem to be really durable. Not the kind of thing I'd use as my daily driver, but for sure I'll not be afraid to actually serve food on them when I've got guests.

Plus, the folks who run Calamityware are responsive good folks. I pinged them in response to one of their email blasts and they got back to me within the hour and were funny and helpful.

Fun and Especially High Quality

These dishes are particularly fun! They are a high quality porcelain and the images are sharp. At first they look like your grandmother’s old blue willow pattern but with zombies, robots, big foot, space ships and more!

Charming and full of Whimsy

I could not be happier with my calamityware collection of dishes; currently on reserve for special occasions. These pieces express my love for classic china but in a charming and whimsical way; they are amusing, and lighten every occasion.

Love them!

My family and I love the Calamityware dishes. Our guests are always amused by them. After getting the series 2 and 3 sets, I went back and ordered series 1 when it was back in stock. I also got the insect plates and bowls because they are hilarious. At first glance the dishes look like a fine traditional set of china with a Dutch pattern. When people look closer they are amazed at the different scenes and want to see each dish. Then when end up taking out the whole set! Super whimsical and fun. Just bought the tea set as well, can’t wait to host my first tea party! The dishes are high quality and very functional.
