The second set of Calamityware dinner plates in a discounted combination. Each porcelain dinner plate features a different calamity from Don Moyer's sketchbook—pillaging pirates, an active volcano, creeping tentacles, and a landscape-sucking vortex.
White porcelain with rich blue images. 10.5" (26.5 cm) diameter. Food safe. Microwave safe. Dishwasher safe. Produced at the award-winning Kristoff porcelain workshop in Poland using the in-glaze decoration process. That means the image is slightly melted into the surface like the fine porcelain you see in museums. Designed by Don Moyer.
Remember, all Calamityware plate designs are different—different borders, different images, and even slightly different blues—because the plates were produced at different times. They will look good together on your table or wall, but they won't be identical.
Porcelain is both delicate and durable. We think you’ll enjoy Don’s blog about caring for your new treasures.
Once I got them the afternoon was spent looking at all of the fine details in the illustrations. Once I can justify getting more I will! They are a good weight, I thought they would be heavier and they do microwave well.
After much deliberation, my teenagers and I chose the series two plates as a Christmas present to ourselves to go with our Things Could Be Worse cups and our Dubious Musicians petite plates. The Tentacles plate is MINE! These are quality porcelain with well-drawn, intricate, appealing, very funny artwork. I know from past experience with the other dishes I own from Calamityware that they are nice enough to serve fancy meals on, durable enough for daily use.
Love, love, love my Calamityware! I purchased a service for 8 and came back for the last 4 and the tea set recently. I was fascinated by this China every time I saw it on Instagram. After a house fire, I decided to purchase it for us to enjoy once the house was rebuilt. I now have all the plates, the Dino platter, tea set, mugs and bread/salad plates. In November I’ll have the 2 serving bowls I reserved this summer.
I can’t wait to share this fun China with my friends around a new table in our home.
Thanks, Calamityware for your awesome, whimsical designs! Mary
If you love Blue and White and have a sense of humor you will love these dishes!
I love these plates! They bring us joy through calamity every day. Great design, high-quality plates (seem durable so far). I mix them in with my traditional blue willow plates for more fun. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend!
I love the vortex design, but as usual, all of them are gorgeous. I have some on my wall and some in my cabinet for holidays. Great quality and sharp designs
We have been collecting these plates from the beginning -- I think we can feed about 20 people at a time now -- but will keep collecting. We also have a set of 12 of the mugs. They are great fun, guests love them, and they are really durable. Keep 'em coming!
This was my first set of calamity plates and I was instantly hooked. The detail in the drawings is amazing and I'm still finding new surprises. Also, the quality of the plates themselves is great.
After the "things could be worse" mugs I gave my wife were such a hit, I decided to try the plates for her birthday. The are just as beautiful and fun as the mugs. We have decided that "Calamityware" is now our home china pattern. She'll be getting the next set for Christmas.
Beautiful blue ware plates - but with a surprise to add a smile to your day. Your detail-oriented friends will smile when they discover the pirates and octopi (or are they squid?) hiding amidst your fabulous cooking. I get endless compliments, and they all are due to Don's work. So much joy passed to so many people! Oh and they are dishwasher and microwave safe, and as sturdy as they are elegant. I'm planning to use mine at my next Murder-Mystery dinner and see who notices.
