Description
A giant robot threatens the tranquility of your dinner plate. Imagine finding that bad boy lurking behind your Brussels sprouts. This traditional blue-willow-inspired design can be found on second porcelain plate in the Calamityware collection.

Designed by Don Moyer and initially launched as his second Kickstarter project in 2014.
Dimensions & More Info
  • 10.5” diameter (26.5 cm)
  • Rich blue images on white porcelain.
  • Produced using the in-glaze decoration process. That means the image is slightly melted into the surface like the fine porcelain you see in museums.
  • Remember, all Calamityware plate designs are different—different borders, different images, and sometimes slightly different blues because the plates were fired at different times. They will look good together on your table or wall, but they won't be identical.
  • Made at the award-winning Kristoff porcelain workshop in Poland.
Care
  • Food safe.
  • Microwave safe.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Porcelain is both delicate and durable. We think you’ll enjoy Don’s blog about caring for your new treasures.

Where it's made

These porcelain pieces were fired at the Kristoff workshop in Valbrich, Poland, one of the oldest and grandest porcelain workshops in the world. Kristoff began making porcelain in 1831 and its work can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come. Photo by Porcelana Krzysztof Sp. z o.o.

Robots!

So I had to have the robot Calamityware. You just don't see robots enough in tableware, in my opinion. Great design on a fantastic plate.

and who wouldn't eat everything on their plate so they could see the calamitous prize that awaits? Worth it every time. Even with brussel sprouts.

Even better than I hoped

I originally backed this idea on Kickstarter, an was extremely happy with the end result. The plate is beatiful, the quality is superb, the hilarity is sublime.
Because of the import tax in Norway I had to pay the governement around 300million dollars to get it into the country, but I`m still getting a full set.

Buy it, love it, eat pasta on it, smile as the picture of beatiful weirdnes meets your eye.

replacement purchase

These plates are the so fun and nicely made that when I tragically broke our first Calamity plate I ordered a new one within minutes so I could stop crying.

Great on Your Table or Wall

This was my first piece of Calamityware, purchased as a gift for me by my husband on Kickstarter, and I absolutely love it. The craftsmanship is meticulous, the design is amazing, and the overall effect is humorous without being cheesy. It hangs on our wall with other collectible plates from around the world, and it always gets comments. =)

A Disaster with Every Bite

These plates are beautiful and they have a giant robot on them, plus four bonus robots around the edge. And a kitty. What more do you need? Nothing. The sun will shine brighter, your food will taste better.

Rim-to-rim awesomeness

The crowning touch is the utterly nonchalant cat -- he knows that giant invading robots are suckers for kitties.

Would it be possible to extend the line into red willow? Not as traditional, I realize, but they'd work so well with the red BADbandanas (plus, I'd like something I can sneak in with my red willow plates).
