Description

Remember when we all used to commute to the office, or maybe your corporate overlords are forcing you to return to your cubicle? This Things-Could-Be-Worse Travel Mug helps move your favorite beverage from kitchen to couch, or home to cube. Made of fine porcelain and designed to fit in a cup holder.

Comes with a slosh-resistant plastic lid with a silicone seal.

Holds 18 ounces.

Dimensions & More Info
  • 18-ounce (532 mL) capacity to the tippy top, 6.5"H (16.5 cm)
  • Carry the mug upright. The lid fits snug with a silicone seal and will prevent most irksome sloshes. But lid isn’t fully watertight. So you cannot just toss a full mug into your backpack without dire consequences.
  • Not insulated. But thick walls hold heat longer if you pre-heat the mug by filling with hot water for a minute before dumping and then filling with hot coffee or tea. If your beverage gets cold during the journey, consider moving closer to your workplace.
  • Porcelain, so no metal or plastic flavors imparted to your beverage. But the mug will probably break when your chauffeur drops it on the driveway or garage floor.
  • Rich blue images on white porcelain.
  • Designed by Don Moyer and initially launched as his 51st Kickstarter project in 2021.
  • Produced using the in-glaze decoration process. That means the image is slightly melted into the surface like the fine porcelain you see in museums.
  • Comes with a description card.

  • Made by wizards in China, where they have been producing porcelain for 3,000 years. These wizards do a great job maintaining precise dimension, such as when a lid needs to fit correctly.

    Great mug; rotten lid

The mug itself is as wonderful as all Calamity Ware products. The design is full of glorious creatures; it's a delight and I love it! My problem is with the lid. It doesn't fall off, which is a positive, but other than that it is a lousy lid. There's no air hole to help with the flow of the beverage. The opening is an awkward size; my lip doesn't fit inside the lid lip or over it the lid lip; I take the lid off to drink. I hope you can send out some of those inexpensive silicone lids for drinking. With the right lid, this mug would be perfect and I would get more for friends. Without a better lid, I just can't "gift" it.

Love the mug. Watch out for the lid.

I really like this mug - fits well in my hand - fits well in my cupholder.

I don't like that the lid, even when tamped down extra carefully, will just decide to loosen off with pressure from whatever is in the mug. I got in touch with Calamityware as soon as the lid problem became obvious on my first day of ownership as an early funding supporter. Got a prompt reply - they didn't intend to acknowledge the design problem. This is my second Clamityware product.

Hold off on purchasing until this lid problem is fixed fixed fixed.

    Life changing

Bought a travel mug for my daughter & myself. We LOVE it !! No problems with the lid. We've been super happy with all of our Calamityware purchases. My daughter took on the shape of a unicorn whilst drinking her coffee. I saw a bright light & felt like I was looking down at myself when drinking my coffee.

    Cute mug, lousy lid

I love the art on the mug but really disliked the lid. The drink opening on the lid is too thick so it's hard to get your lips around it to slip without spilling on yourself. So I'll probably use the mug without the lid. If Calamityware develops a new lid, please send me one!

    Not a travel mug!

Mug! By definition, a "travel mug" means the contents are secured by a lid that keep contents from spilling out. NOPE, this is just a big cup with a non-functioning lid. It doesn't stay on, and when you try to drink from it, you're sure to have the contents down the front of your shirt. Better off not getting it. I was a backer and this is the worst product Calamityware has made. Everything else has been stellar!!

Travels Well Between Kitchen and Porch

I don't own a vehicle so why do I need travel mugs, one may ask? To add to my ever-growing collection of Calamityware. And who doesn't need a mug with pterodactyls, dinosaurs and bears (oh, my!) along with other calamities? I don't drink coffee; however, I do drink smoothies. I can make a double batch of smoothie, and divide it between my two travel mugs. One mug, with lid firmly in place, goes into the refrigerator for later; the other travels around the house with me to office or porch. I like the lids. The lids are nice because they fit snugly and provide a good cover for in the refrigerator. The slide to access the drink hole works well for me. The lids are not spill-proof; only spill-resistant. If the mug gets turned too far in the horizontal direction, the contents will push the lid off. Just be aware of that. The mugs are made in that wonderful sturdy yet porcelain-delicate fashion I associate with Calamityware.

    Love/Hate

Love the mug! Hate the lid! The opening for the beverage is easily double the size of most travel lids. So far, I’ve not had good luck drinking out of it without spilling while in the car. I love CalamityWare and won’t hold this against them, but I’d become a really loyal customer if they fixed the lid! (Nudge, nudge) 😊

    Perfectly sized!

After 3 iterations of calamity mugs...this one is perfect. Love the feel, fits in our "barcaloungers's cup holders, and, as always, is a delightful design. As a full time rv'er, one would think that heavy mugs would be uncalled for but oh, contrare, my friends! Even have the dinosaur platter affixed above our sink...my grumpy old ex-marine husband enjoys the humor as much as I do! You can't go wrong with this travel mug!

    Bought 3

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this mug, so much so that I bought one for me and one for each of my daughters. They thought it was traditional blue and white ceramic ware until they took a closer look and got the humor. I have told all my neighbors and co workers about your products. This always makes me smile..Great way to start a work day!

    Great travel mug!

It's not only beautiful (knew that before buying), but very functional. The lid fits perfectly and I've had no issues with it. I love the option of sliding a cover over the drinking hole. The mug holds a goodly quantity of liquid - great for those of us who brew a pot of tea or coffee and then refuse to share any with our loved ones. (Brew your own!) And although the mug is tall, it fits perfectly in the cup holder of my tiny little Prius C. In other words, I love it, and it's a great addition to my ever-growing collection of Calamityware.
