I'm absolutely delighted by everything about this pin! The quality is truly outstanding. It's not your usual little light-weight stamping, it's quite heavy, and the enamel work is beautifully done, the same quality you'd find on fine jewelry. For me though, the best thing is the wonderful synchronicity between this pin and an experience of a dear friend. He's a well-known bagpiper who also plays many other folk instruments and has been a fixture at different crafts fairs and festivals in northern California for decades. When he's played hurdy-gurdy and pipes at one particular Christmas crafts fair-I won't name names, though I'd like to-his costume has been almost the same as the monkey's, except for the striped pants and cymbals. The point is coming up soon, I promise. So right before the 2019 Christmas crafts fair, the Powers That Be (Were?) told my friend that his services were no longer required. After this all happened I was commiserating with him about how hard it is for a musician to make a living, honest or otherwise, and he said he was tempted to just show up there to play dressed in a gorilla suit and fez. I can't wait to send him this pin. I know he'll love it.
The moral of this story is: buy some, they're beautiful and strange, and you'll love them!
