Our stoneware is made in China where they’ve been perfecting this technology for three thousand years. Stoneware beats porcelain for large objects and items with lids because it shrinks less in the kiln and retains its true dimensions much better. The glazed stoneware of our Kitchen Witch Canisters and Vigilant-Dragons Cookie Jar is made of high-quality, non-porous ceramic clay heated to an extremely high temperatures. Dense, impermeable, and hard enough to resist scratching, it is also capable of displaying colors with great vibrancy.
Calamityware is a tiny, five-person, one-dog company headquartered in Pittsburgh. We love bringing the darkly whimsical view of our founder and chief monster-maker, Don Moyer, to life. Our products are high quality, meticulously manufactured items that make wonderful gifts for you and other weird-adjacent people in your life. Our goal is to make you smile.
Not gonna lie, I cringed when I got the notice from FEDEX that my package was on the way and expected it to be smashed to bits, especially when it was, as usual not delivered when it was expected to be. The packing was very sturdy and strong, yaaaay Chinese packing experience! I got a full set for a wedding gift (and I am still worried that it may be damaged), and didn't cheat myself, I grabbed myself the large one. I know that the wedding gift will be a winner, because the recipient has seen mine and loves it.
So you can feel the art work, and its not as slick as the products (I have various Things Could Be Worse cups) made in Poland... eh! The artwork is still beautifully done, and filled with all the wonderful creatures that I or we have come to know and love. The best part is now I don't have to refill my cocaine... I mean flour... as much as I used to.
I love the story behind these canisters so much that I framed the story and made a little shadowbox for my special witchy corner of the kitchen. I love them! With shipping these were very expensive so I asked my family to chip in and buy this as a joint birthday/ Mother’s Day present. They are an extravagance that makes me so happy.
This is the first time I've backed one of your Kickstarter projects, and I'm in LOVE! I already had the dragon cookie jar, which looks extra cute sitting on the counter next to the large kitchen witch jar. I wasn't too jazzed about it taking nearly three weeks to arrive - next time I'll specify UPS instead of FedEx - but it was certainly worth the wait. As usual, it's made of sturdy, beautiful porcelain that will last a lifetime and then some.
Can't wait for my Creature Comfort bedspread to arrive! (I'm getting addicted to your Kickstarters, it seems.)
I received these as a gift from my hubby and bestie. They are perfect for our coffee pods and sweetener. They are by far my favorite birthday gift!
What a great addition to our Calamityware collection! The canisters were so well packaged for shipping they could have circled the globe a few times and still arrived safe and sound. The canisters themselves are sturdy and roomy ... just the right sizes for the basics -- flour, sugar, coffee, teabags ... or whatever other household trinkets or family jewels you need stored away for safekeeping. My one disappointment ... and it's not a outright complaint ... is that the canister surfaces were not as smooth as my Calamityware teapot (made in Poland). But I can live with the different texture. One extra positive is that the canisters can be run through the dishwasher without any problems. So, good job, guys!
I received my Kitchen Witch canisters weeks ago and they are packed so beautifully (to be used in our new house summer 2023) that I won't unpack them until then. It will be like Yuletide in July for us when I finally unpack and reveal the canisters. I've bought all the Kitchen Witch products you have so please consider expanding this wonderful design line. Love it!!
Love them! Great sizes, good lids.
Kept the cookies fresh!
I am easily amused and the canister fulfills my need for a chuckle and it holds my coffee pods. I consider it a win!
They are very good quality, every time I walk by them in my kitchen I'm so glad I ordered them. Highly recommend!
