    Finally A Gift Without Shame!

All of my presents are the stuff of family mockery. Last year's artisanal pencils were shared with distant relatives, who all shook their heads. I think socks ARE romantic. Foodstuffs are compared with foodstuffs that are already in the house. When I watch the German submarine thriller, I am accused of buying the gift for myself. Every year, I fume about a double digit percentage of things in the world distributed by people like me who do not know what other people want.

But this time, I saw actual joy in my wife's eyes. We have filled the dishwasher with a spring in our steps because she wants to use the Christmas plates and mugs again. We are pretending to observe some less-familiar liturgical calendar so that we can keep calling now "Christmas". (This is being written on the first week of January.) We already loved the blue plates and mugs. When the holiday ware is boxed up, we will actually look forward to the race of time until some holiday is declared "close enough".

It is fun just to see how good all of this stuff is. Thanks!

Christmas gift for the best boss ever!

This was the perfect gift. When shopping for the person who has everything, or has probably bought anything they really wanted already, you have to get them something that they might not buy themselves. They will come to appreciate this collection the closer they look, especially if they have a sense of humor or they appreciate yours. I couldn't think of what to buy. Then I thought; what would I like? And lo and behold, the Calamity Ware Christmas Collection. Especially funny (or ironic) since we've been having some real whoppers of bad luck here lately, but.... It Could Be Worse!

I have grand nephews who are going to love these Christmas calamities for the zombies, robots and other creatures. My niece and her husband will enjoy them as well I’m sure. The design is subtle enough that they look like classic china. My niece is an avid baker and I’m certain she will get a kick out of the Christmas calamity apron. I bought myself some new oven mitts. They are good quality and the artwork makes me smile. I have blue stoneware that does not have good bowls for cereal and whatnot, so I bought two sets of the three different sized nesting bowls. We are just two, so perfect bowls for whatever the need.

    Best reactions ever!

I gifted the apron and two of the plates and mugs to my daughter and her wife for St. Nicholas Day. The first reaction was just thankfulness and then they took a closer look! They had so much fun with their gifts.
