Don Moyer's Home Tour

Meet Don Moyer.

Don is the founder and artist behind Calamityware. He draws a little bit everyday, and enjoys walking, listening to audiobooks, and napping. He is the most treasured member of our team, and the heart and soul of Calamityware.

His Home Decor Style:

Don's home is very eclectic and full of odd stuff acquired over many years. Karen (his wife) and Don met almost 60 years ago, so they have things they bought new that, like the two of them, are now considered antiques. Their aesthetic leans toward traditional and comfortable, with a twist. Nothing seems to match, but everything is treasured and special nonetheless.

His Color Palette:

You will find his home full of warm hues, grays, and greens, with natural elements of warm wood and wicker.

If you are interested in learning more about his aesthetic, or you are nosey and just want to glimpse pictures from inside his actual home, read on to learn all about Don.

Don's Snacks

Things Could Be Worse Mugs

Don claims to use these Things Could Be Worse mugs at least six times a day. That seems like a lot of coffee for someone who claims to also nap every day. But maybe he uses them for water and juice.

Dubious Musician Plates

Don is a big snacker so having a tiny plate for just a couple chips or pretzels is crucial. Using anything larger makes him feel like he needs to fill the plates with more, and that leads to overindulgence.

Don's Bathroom

Sea Monsters

His bathroom boasts a rare combination—the Sea Monster Shower Curtain with the limited edition Sea Monster Jamboree print that inspired it. Sadly the print is no longer available, but you can still find the shower curtain on our website.

Don's Kitchen

Kitchen Witch Canisters

Don did not design these canisters to be the exact perfect size needed to fill this shelf in his kitchen, but they miraculously do. So of course he has a shelf full of them.

Kitchen Witch Talisman

Don does the majority of the cooking for him and Karen, so he keeps a Kitchen Witch Talisman hanging close by to thwart any unlucky kitchen mishaps he may encounter.

Don's Shelves

Books, Prototypes, and Collectibles

Don and Karen have acquired lots of small collectibles, trinkets, and Calamityware prototypes over the years. Their shelves are lovingly adorned with small still-life sets, just ready to be painted or drawn.

Don's Bedroom

Creature Comfort Bedding and Throw Blankets

Don has an antique wood sleigh bed with Creature Comfort Bedding on it. He absolutely loves this bed, and takes multiple naps a week on it. He also has another limited edition Aha Moments print, and a Time Travel Bloopers Throw Blanket on his corner chair. Life is good.

We hope you enjoyed this home tour and style guide.

Sincerely,

Don and The Calamityware Team

I bought two mugs and a teapot early on. Gave one mug to a friend who needed it. Showed them on a zoom platform many times and they did relieve my stress. Time for a new line to get us through this new calamity!

I love your style, Don! I adore the prints, dishes, ornaments and many other pieces you have created. Thank you for sharing your brilliant, creative and slightly warped mind with us.
