Description

Your dinner plate infested with a plague of frogs. Imagine these bad boys behind your matzah! The closer you look, the more frogs you’ll see. This traditional blue-willow-inspired design can be found on the ninth porcelain plate in the Calamityware collection.

Designed by Don Moyer and initially launched as his 18th Kickstarter project in 2016.

Dimensions & More Info
  • 10.5” diameter (26.5 cm)
  • Rich blue images on white porcelain.
  • Produced using the in-glaze decoration process. That means the image is slightly melted into the surface like the fine porcelain you see in museums.
  • Remember, all Calamityware plate designs are different—different borders, different images, and sometimes slightly different blues because the plates were fired at different times. They will look good together on your table or wall, but they won't be identical.
  • Made at the award-winning Kristoff porcelain workshop in Poland.
Care
  • Food safe.
  • Microwave safe.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Porcelain is both delicate and durable. We think you’ll enjoy Don’s blog about caring for your new treasures.

These porcelain pieces were fired at the Kristoff workshop in Valbrich, Poland, one of the oldest and grandest porcelain workshops in the world. Kristoff began making porcelain in 1831 and its work can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come. Photo by Porcelana Krzysztof Sp. z o.o.

High Quality - Loud Laughs

I had ordered the set of 4.

I had unboxed them and had them setting on my counter. My neighbor came by that evening and she noticed them. She droned on about how she "Loves blue and white, and that her grandmother gave her a set, and that she things that it was just like this."

I went on to tell her that I am sure that her grandmother did not have this set. She said she was sure, so I challenged her to take a closer look. She pulled out her glasses and leaned in.

5 mins later she stopped laughing, having seen all 4 of the plates. She loved them and was sure that her grandmother would have also thought they were amazing.

Seriously, the plates are of great quality, the art looks amazing, and they are a conversation starter. I am about to order the next set.

Not a calamity for me!

I have both the frog plate and the Things Could Be Worse mugs. I absolutely love them; they make me smile every time I use them.

The plate is beautiful and the amphibian array is my favorite.

Both the plate and mugs are very well made. I thought that the mug would be delicate, but it’s definitely up to day to day use, as is the plate.

I love, love, love, Calamityware. I give them 10 stars out of 10 stars.
Or 100 out of 100.

Finest kind!

Five star, and since numbers NEVER end....as many stars as are in sky!

I bought the Frogs 9 plate and the four Dubious Monkey Musicians petite bowls for my daughter (who, by the way, "introduced me" to Calamityware) as Christmas presents for her. We weren't able to be together this Christmas because of Covid-19, which broke our hearts but at least we are healthy and safe at this writing....so I didn't get to watch her open!!!! And, of course, the other three fellers she addresses as husband and sons, didn't video for me!!!! YES....I still make them complete a Christmas List each year, and on hers, she had listed your site! At first sight, I too, thought "oh Blue Willow" and questioned WHY? And such a name...Calamity? Then I SAW!!!! Oh my goodness, I fell in LOVE with immediately!!!! I'll be revisiting y'all very soon!!!! Need those 20 oz mugs....to surprise her!!!!! I'm on to her, NOW!!! Thanks so much for helping make a "little" girl's Christmas so much more bright!!!

Never too many frogs

We are great fans of CalamityWare, and have now replaced all our good dishes with CalamityWare. Dinner guests enjoy the plates, looking for creatures in the borders and discussing the various calamities depicted. The frog plate is special to me because my son is nuts about Kermit and his mother loved all sorts of frogs (although she might have said one could never have too many frogs!)

The plates are high quality & the designs are detailed and permanent. best of all, they fit perfectly in my dishwasher!

Best dinner plate

Very hi-end porcelain. Feels great. Fun to use. I have two plates, one frog plate and one UFO plate. Love them both.

My private favorite plate

I don't plan to use this plate, but at some point I might. It's so cool, but you have to look closely at it,which most people don't. I do. And I love it.
